Reference Desk at Darwin Supreme Court

The Courts Library provides a service to the Justices of the Supreme Court and Judges of the Local Court, to the staff of the Courts, and to the private legal profession in the Northern Territory. For details of the services provided to its primary and secondary clients, please click here.

The library's main collection is held in the Supreme Court building in Darwin. It also maintains smaller collections at the Local Courts in Darwin and Alice Springs.

It has in excess of 80,000 volumes, and is the largest law collection in the Northern Territory. There are extensive series of law reports from all Australian jurisdictions, as well as some from other countries. There is also a large collection of statutory material, textbooks and legal journals.

The library also has access to several online databases, available to Justices, Judges and Court Staff. These are also available to members of the legal profession who have registered with the Library.

The library in Darwin is open from 8.30 AM to 4.00 PM, Monday to Friday.

The library publishes a Library Guide which is a basic guide to the collection and the services offered at the library.
