The Honourable Charles Augustine Sweeney CBE

Charles Sweeney served as an additional Justice of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory from 1967 - 1971.

Justice Sweeney graduated from Melbourne University and was admitted to the Victorian Bar in 1939.

Justice Sweeney was appointed as a Queen's Counsel in 1955 and was a Member of the Commonwealth Conciliation and Arbitration Commission from 1963 - 1969.

Justice Sweeney was Deputy President of the Trade Practices Tribunal from 1966 - 1971 and served as a Justice of the Commonwealth Industrial Court from 1969 - 1970. Justice Sweeney was also a visiting Justice of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory from 1969 - 1971 and was a Justice of the Federal Court of Australia from 1977 - 1995.

Justice Sweeney was made a Knight Commander of St Gregory and in 1973 was made a Commander of the British Empire.
