The Honourable John Foster Gallop

John Foster Gallop was appointed as a Justice of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory in 1978.

Justice Gallop was a resident judge of the Court from 1978 - 1982 and remained as a non-resident member after taking up appointment as a Justice of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory in 1982 - 2000. On the 1st August 2000, Justice Gallop was appointed as Acting Justice until his retirement at the end of 2002.

Justice Gallop was also a Justice of the Federal Court of Australia and Supreme Court of Christmas Island. He was also a Presidential Member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and President of the Defence Force Discipline Appeal Tribunal having held these appointments since 1995.

Justice Gallop was Chairman of the Australian Institute of Sport Ethics Committee from 1987 - 1999 and President of the Australian Capital Territory Cricket Association since 1983.

Justice Gallop was appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1976 and was President of the Law Society of the Australian Capital Territory from 1976 - 1978. He was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1978.
