The Honourable Sir John Angus Nimmo CBE
John Nimmo served as an additional Justice of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory from 1969 - 1974.
Justice Nimmo graduated from the Melbourne University and was a Member of the Commonwealth Tax Board of Review from 1947 - 1954.
Justice Nimmo was appointed as a Queen's Counsel in 1957 and as an Acting Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1963. Justice Nimmo was Deputy President of the Trade Practices Tribunal from 1966 - 1973 and Deputy President of the Commonwealth Conciliation and Arbitration Commission from 1964 - 1969. He was Chairman of the Health Insurance Committee of Inquiry from 1968 - 1969, Commissioner inquiring into unlawful land subdivisions south of Darwin from 1974 - 1975 and Royal Commissioner into matters relating to Norfolk Island from 1975 - 1976.
Justice Nimmo served as a Justice of the Industrial Relations Court from 1969 - 1977 and as a Justice of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory from 1969 - 1974.
Justice Nimmo was Chief Justice of Fiji from 1972 - 1974, Deputy President of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal from 1979 - 1980 and Justice of the Federal Court of Australia from 1977 - 1980.
Justice Nimmo was made an Officer of the Order of St John of Jerusalem and in 1970 was made a Commander of the British Empire. He was appointed a Knight Bachelor in 1972.
