Justice Meredith Day Huntingford

The Honourable Justice Meredith Day Huntingford

Meredith Day Huntingford was appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory in June 2024, having  been an Acting Judge in May 2023.

Justice Huntingford was born and raised in South Australia and attended the University of Adelaide where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws in 1986.  She also holds a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne.

After relocating to Darwin in 1987, Acting Justice Huntingford worked in private practice, including as a partner at local firm Hunt & Hunt, before commencing as a law lecturer at Charles Darwin University in 2001. She was a senior lawyer, and later Director of Litigation, at the Solicitor for the Northern Territory from 2005 and, from 2014 to 2019, Deputy CEO of the Department of the Attorney-General and Justice.

Justice Huntingford was appointed as a Local Court judge in 2019 and from 2020 to 2022 was based in Alice Springs.
