Beware jury scam email in circulation
Beware of a scam email to Territorians states they have been issued a writ by the Supreme Court compelling them to attend a hearing and inviting them to click on a “view Subpoena” box or link in the email.
Territorians are receiving emails stating that they have been issued a writ by the Supreme Court compelling them to attend a hearing and inviting them to click on a “view Subpoena” box or link in the email.
This is a phishing scam where they are trying to make the matter seem serious enough that your first instinct is to click on the link. They are trying to steal your personal information or install a malicious virus on your computer.
If you are going to be called up for jury duty, the courts will never email you; it will be via post only.
Second, they use your last name in the salutation; there is no Mr or Mrs; just a “Hi Smith”, not very professional at all.
Third, the email address it comes from is not an NTG address.
If you receive this email, delete it! Never click on any links in any email that you are not sure of.
If you have any questions about this or jury duty, please contact the Supreme Court Jury Enquiries via the Jury Manager on: (08) 8999 7930 or email on AGD.CSSJURY@NT.GOV.AU
